When Should You Consider a Smile Makeover?
Could your smile use a makeover? If you have chipped, cracked, and/or missing teeth, more than your smile is harmed. Learn more about the benefits of a smile makeover and how it can improve your oral health and smile.

“A smile makeover is the process of improving the appearance of the smile through one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures.” Those with chipped, cracked, and/or missing teeth can receive customized treatments that completely re-make their smile and improve their oral health. If you’re dissatisfied with any part of your smile, it’s a great time to consider the benefits a smile makeover can have for you.

At Bergen Dental Wellness, LLC, Allison T. Moses, DDS and her talented oral care team can work with you to create a customized smile makeover treatment plan. We have conveniently located offices in Midtown east, New York, New York, and Bergen County, New Milford, New Jersey.

Dr. Moses is an experienced cosmetic dentist who performs a comprehensive exam to determine your oral health needs, then discusses these needs with you to learn more about your smile goals. Together, you can choose the smile makeover options that meet your specific needs for improved function and aesthetic appeal.

What can be included in your smile makeover?

A customized smile makeover seeks to correct the issues that make you unhappy with your smile. It can include several cosmetic dental services that enhance your smile’s appearance and oral function. Dr. Moses can explain more about each procedure and its benefits during a smile makeover consultation, but below are some brief descriptions of each.

Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening uses a dental grade whitening agent to remove deep-set stains in your teeth. This is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments we offer in our office. Cosmetic teeth whitening can brighten your smile by several shades.

Tooth-colored fillings

Porcelain fillings can repair teeth damaged by decay and replace older, silver, or amalgam fillings to give you a more pleasing smile. They are blended to match your existing teeth to hide the repair.

Crowns and bridges

Crowns and bridges can repair broken teeth and replace missing teeth with artificial appliances. This is a popular and affordable restorative dentistry option.

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells that cover the front surface of your teeth to improve the shape, size, and appearance of a problematic tooth. They can hide the flaws of a single tooth or all your front teeth for a complete smile transformation

Dental implants

Dental implants are the closest teeth restoration option to having natural teeth. A surgical procedure implants a titanium post into your jaw. The post serves as an anchor (artificial root) for a crown (artificial tooth). They can also serve as support for bridges or dentures.

When should you consider a smile makeover?

Dr. Moses and her team can customize your smile makeover with procedures that address many dental flaws that develop because of aging, poor oral hygiene, or traumatic injuries.

Do you hide your smile because of noticeable tooth flaws like:

  • Gapped teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Yellowed or discolored teeth
  • Overbites or other tooth misalignments

Do you have difficulty or pain when eating because of missing or damaged teeth? We can perform a complete oral examination to determine the steps necessary to restore your oral health and a beautiful smile.

Choosing your smile makeover goals

Every patient is different and will have varying goals and needs. Some dental treatments will require more time and extensive procedures; others may offer faster, even instant results. Dr. Moses will share more about what is involved in each treatment option, so you can choose the best fit for your smile makeover goals.

For example, teeth whitening is a quick, noninvasive cosmetic treatment that can make smiles brighter and improve your appearance. One simple visit to our clinic and that’s it. Repairing damaged teeth can take longer, depending on the extent of the damage and how many teeth need work. Or, dental veneers can cover damaged or discolored teeth in a few visits, instead of undergoing extensive repair work.

Be sure to ask Dr. Moses plenty of questions and get the information you need to decide which procedures are the best fit for you.
